Coraline Algae

How long does it take for coraline algae to start? My tank was just started in early august, and this is my first tank. The last couple of days i have been noticing some coraline algae on the rocks, and on the shells of the snails. I would like to think that is a huge accomplishment coknsidering how many issues i had in the beginign. I had a huge outbreak of ich etc....

Just be patient,it'll come.Keep up the maintenance and check your calcium and alk.

Keep ur calcium at 430

I agree...BOTH calcium and alkalinity on the high side.

You can buy or borrow a coraline encrosted rock or rocks to give your tank a big boost with the use of a calcium suppliment.

Don't forget how important it is to keep Mg in check as well.

be patient, i started with a little and in a few months it was covering everything. every rock that is exposed to light in my tank has coral line on it

yea i am starting to see a lot of it, along with some of those white pinapple mushroom looking things. (actually they look like q tips). I am just happy my tank seems to be settling in

you know its funny because I dont have much in my tank, have 2 beginner corals and two fish....
