How much dieoff can i expect?

So i picked up some LR from Barnacle but i had to take care of a couple things before i headed back into queens from jersey. I'd say from the time that i picked up the LR and the time it got in my tank was about 3.5-4 hrs. How much dieoff can i expect from the rocks being out of water for this long?

Did you keep the rock moist or did you let it go dry? I guess if you kept it moist, it shouldn't be too bad. Rock ships for longer but stays moist to keep dieoff minimal.

as nano said if it was moist you wont have to much dieoff. if it wasnt moist you will have a little. it was only in a 3 - 5 hour period. so it shouldnt be to bad. what i would do is put it in a bin filled with saltwater and a powerhead, heater. put them in the bin and then check the ammonia lvls in a couple of hours. i guess so your sure nothing bad will happen in your tank if its already up and running.

it was in a plastic box w/ some water- i told him maybe a 15-20% die off of the rocks not in water.

Safety first dude. Stick it in a bucket for a day or two and measure the water. Then stick it in your tank.

I had my rocks shipped in water via air frieght- took about 6 hours total and I didn't have any dieoff to speak of. But that was a new tank- better to be safe than sorry if you are adding them to a tank thats established!
