Ok as the seasons approach with the snow coming do you have good auto insurance?

Did this last year also, let me start by saying I don't work for any insurance company and not trying to sell anything? These are my opinions based on what I do for a living.

Things to do if ever in an accident. Regardless of how miner of a incident call the police, it is for your protection in the long run, if they refuse to stay, always get plate #, it's a crime to leave the scene of a accident. Seen allot of b.s happen by reports not being done, person says one thing to you but another to their insurance, no fault cause you cant prove without witness

Please look at your auto insurance and what EXACT coverage you have, most people don?t know and enough can't remember their own insurance companies name. Things to look for, do you have full coverage? What is included in your full coverage? Have you asked them to update pricing or shop around? Do you have rental coverage? If so how many days do you have? Do you have glass coverage? Is replacement an option regardless? {Compromised glass is not safe as we all know} if so is there a deductible? What type of parts will be used? Factory, aftermarket? Is the aftermarket a capa certified part? Is it a recycled part? Did any bodywork have to be done to that part?

These are your rights as an insured.
You have the right to have your car repaired where you choose, not where they might ask you to go. Once an incident is reported to them they have 6 business days to have an appraiser out to see your car. You DO NOT have to go to one of their drive inn or drp shops, you must make the car available to them though, you don't have to be there. You do not need to obtain more then 1 estimate.

Now on the to last, DO not ever just take money from a incident, you car could be worse then you think, seen many of cars with crushed trunk floors and only minor markings on a bumper. Allot can happen behind a plastic bumper. Or worse you actual end up hurt and doesn?t kick in for an hour. Insurance = there to help to a degree, but they are your protection in a legal battle.
Always get all info when involved in a accident, always keep a pencil and paper in car to exchange info, possibly a disposable camera, take pic's at scene, cant argue a picture. Ask for id, and always call the police. It?s your life, your investment and your safety. And if a car seat was in the car whether a kid was in it or not always demand a new one, you will get it, it's a law

This has been a public announcement
btw I am a appraiser for a dealership auto body, and work with these situations for a living, feel free to ask questions
excuse me if i ramble, but these really arent things to over look, get rid of the higher deductable, is saves a few dollars a month and if your ever in a accident easier getting 250 or 500 then a grand. you pay for insurance for a reason, and if they want to raise change companies, not having rental or glass saves you about 5-10 dollars a month, compare it to one windshield replacement

Agreed. Pictures are also worth a thousand words take some of the accident scene with your cell phone or keep a disposable in glove compartment. I have the gecko company and glass coverage turned out to be $40 extra for the year, replacing a windshield that got a chip from a rock on the Tappan Zee then spread up and down and failed inspection $220 including inspection. Biggest tip slow down and don't tailgate you'll only get there a few minutes sooner, but safer. Happy motoring all!

Just a couple of years ago, in the Bronx on my way to work, A car service rear me. I guess the driver skidded due to the rain. Anyhow, I got out of my car and I told the driver to pull into the gas station, so that we did not block the road. She took off and did not go into the gas station. I guess she panic, probably did not have a license, or insurance! I've should have wrote down the license plates while the car was moving. Lesson to learn...great information Rick!

Very good point of calling the police. Three weeks ago, a person hit my wife's Lexus SUV in the back causing some damages to the bumper. He offerred my wife's 500 dollars for the damages.

She deposited the money into the bank and got the money out for the repair, the check bounced!!! We ended up paying 45 dollars bank fee. Fortunately, she did get his information, so I called the insurance and got the damage covered.

That guy was a jerk, my wife did he a favor by not calling the police, saving him at least two point ticket for reckless driving (he was looking at some paper approaching the red light), didn't have his driver license with him.
