anybody running one of these skimere looking for a new skimmer mabey reef central has good write up about them anyone running them here?

i just bought one yesterday picked it up from the distributor in Brooklyn. it is well built and started skimming well with 2 hours .

unless these have changed, IMO, the acrylic looks VERY thin. I feel like if you sneeze on it, the acrylic will shatter, but that's only from pictures. What pump comes with it?

To be fair though, I've heard from a few people on RC (and believe there's a thread going on them) that they're good skimmers.

I've been seriously considering the Vertex second generation. Check them out as well. Fair price point, and very similar to Euro Reef skimmers with a nice bubble plate.

they must have changed.... the acrylic work is not bad and its durable more so than my ATI BUBBLE MASTER. but of course i never really felt the need to play football with any of my skimmers.
it comes with an atman pump with a upgraded impeller whch i read makes it more reliable. the one i bought comes with two meshwheels. they say it lasts about 6 to 8 months

How is the atman pump? FWIW, the Vertex come with a Resun pump, which is a knock off. I've heard the first gen. had impeller issues but the 2nd generation solved the issue.

it all depends what tank size are you going to use it on? what bubble magus was you looking to purchase?
i forgot one negative thing about the bubble magus nac6 is that it requires a fairly high sump level to run at its best.(doesn't bother me but may not be possible for others)

my experience with the skimmer is only 3 days but so far...
the pump does not have any restart issues.. i was testing it to see if it would resume after a power off and it does well. its quiet.. i can only hear a slight humm only if it is dead quiet in my home. my eheim 1262 pump humms also and is louder

sump level dont matter too me i got 12 inch in the sump to play with my tank is a 120 gallon med load

i had the nac6 ...its a good skimmer...and cant go wrong with the price for one..
it skims well and is almost silent...
for a 120g i would consider a skimmer thats a little bigger ...
also look into the msx extreme 160 or the 200...

Does anyone use the eshopps skimmers? I've heard great things on RC about them and they're very inexpensive. Even an econo-cone.

I'm a beginner and need a skimmer for a 110 Gallon mixed reef tank similar to jerl77's system. I too was considering the Bubble-Magus but am having second thoughts.

I've been running the bubble-magus bm100 for a months now, without complain... skims well, and its very quiet, can barely hear it running.....
