By adding salt will it start a cycle

I remember doing the same thing as kathy and my ammonia was the same when I tested. Thats why I never had salt in a bucket for more that 24hrs, safe then sorry. I will also test my new tank before I tranfer just to make sure nothing jumped in my tank.LOL
