hey my nitrates are hight i was thinking of getting a denitifyer i seen the aquapure one has anyone have any results with this or other brands www.aquaripure.com

Sorry to here you just ordered one.. I client of mine just ordered a natureef because his aquapure would keep clogging.. He literaly threw out the window, narrowly missing his wifes car.. Sulfur sucks you still need to do water changes to keep the sulfur from building up.. You'll be the 3rd person to try and hate this Ihave heard about or known..

I say just vodka dose, that's the only real cheap way to go..

wellm i was reading ur posts on this from other people and i thought i did what u said and didnt order a reactor with sulfur this is the one that u have to feed sugar water or vodka

im planning on doing water chjanges just my nitarte is at like 80 ppm all the time i figured with the water changes this may help do u think i should cancel the order

Bob you do know that this is not a sulfur reactor. It is purely an anaerobic bacterial process. It is an o2 free box where anaerobic bacteria can flourish with the addition of vodka. As for clogging, no one said that it was a maintenance free system. You do have to clean out the valve and the hose every now and then. Your client probably was not aware that if you have high nitrates you have to adjust it twice a day. I have had mine up and running with minimal maintenance for 2 years now and my nitrates are 0 or near 0. Before i had the system on my tank it was at least 40 ppm. As for water changes i do them 1 every 3 months 20%. I love that lil black box.

personally i think the same thing could be done with rubble rock and a slow pass over of water, using a phos reactor and dosing vodka into it, rubble will work to colonize bacteria, same as zeo rock and brightwell rocks

charlie i wqill be using a 2 little fish's phos reactor to make mine, don't know if it will work, but it is a way to colonize bacteria which in return without light and dosing the carbon source should work the same, other can chime in.

if your going to try that remember to move water threw it very slowly.
