how did a 3" fat fish end up inside the bottle?!?

Can fish actually deform their body to squeeze into or fit between crevises in rocks? The reason I ask is because I made a fish trap out of a 20oz plastic coke bottle...the opening to the bottle is no more than an 1" wide?
