Well my 220gal is in my office. The roof need to be replaced bad!!
I came in this am to find a puddle of water on my canopy.
I dont know how much got in the tank but it first soaked the ceiling tile and then it came on my canopy. I was not there yesterday at 5pm and or I did not notice it. I think it stoped raining around 7-9pm
So I know there always is danger of were the water ran and what it carred with it as it leaked into my tank

Did all my test and seamed to be perfect. Salinty was as were it was yesterday. Fish look better then ever, also was having a problem last week with coral adjusting to my new 400w lighting but today they seem to be opening and looking beter also,
Should I do a water change?
Just did one less then a week ago?(about 30gals)
Has this happened to anyone ?

I would do a water change and run some carbon and polypads. It's not how much water that got in but that some may have gotten in. The water could have picked up stuff from your roof, walls and the ceiling tiles and that stuff could have gotten into the tank.

I had a similar thing about 15 years or so ago. The women above me overflow her sink and the water dripped down through the ceiling into my tank. I lose some fish from this.

his tank is extremely young I would not recommend doing a water change just yet, adding carbon couldn't hurt. Of coarse this is just my opinion.

well I had a bucket after I noticed it and the bucket water was clear. I think the way it looked I just got the backend on the water from what ever was on the roof last night. also when I removed the ceiling tilte the water was coming out of the ductwork and not anywere else. Thank god the ductwok was brand new and recently changed all the way to the roof unit so can't be that dirty. I do have have a carbon reactor with about 2.0L filled. Should I add more?
And yes the tank is new

most roofing is petroleum based and water that came from the type of roofing used in our area is not potable so it cant be good for your tank run carbon

+1

Not to mention other building materials such as fiberglass (insulation and ceiling tiles), factory oils (in the ductwork you mentioned), gypsum (sheetrock), copper (flashing & wiring), and the rain itself.....acid rain is what we experience around this area.

I'd definitely run carbon and a polypad. Easy and harmless if it isn't really needed.

Good luck with the roof and let us know how it goes.

Rain water is acid, if you are in an urban area, the water is probably not too clean from pollutions, if is only a small amount, personally, I wouldn't be too conecerned. most people are right though, check your PH!.
