I need a couple of questions answered
Can LED Lights replace Metal Halides?
What will I need for my 120 gallons reef tank and where can I get it?

yes it can replace and overpower Metal halide. you will need 48" or two 24" led setups.

Also what type of 120 do you have I am assuming the 48 inch as well.

Please note it won't be cheap either haha.

That's what they said last year and the year before that.

As long as the name brand diodes are retailing for $6 to $7 per LED, the price of fixtures will still be pretty high for the next 5 years.

It is not that expensive for long run.I was running MH of total 760W and when I switch to DIY 280W LED I see bid difference on my electric bill already.

LED is dropping in price. In the last year alone the cost of China manufactured LED products has dropped almost in half.

With more competition the price will drop.

My tank has been running since march on home made led's and never looked so good my sps has exploded and my electric consumption has been greatly reduced .
I used to run 3 150watt double ended mh with 4 96 watt pc's bulb replacements used to cost me $400 every 10-12 months chiller would be on in the summer a few times a day and fans were on 24/7
hopefully these leds last the 50,000 hours they are rated for only time will tell
