New some help with MH

Ok im looking to upgrade my lighting when i do my taxes . I was looking at this

48" Deluxe 2 x Metal Halide &
2 x 110W VHO Fixture by

I was going to get the 400w X2 20k so i can get all the colors from my corals. what do you guys think i have a 75g sps and lps

In a 75g you can probably get away with 175w halides. save you money on electric and they will put less heat into your system. 400 seems like overkill to me. also, if you are going to run 20k bulbs you might find that you dont really need the actinics.

Right now i have 250w x2 hqi bulbs and 260w atinic 03

Why do you want to upgrade to 400w?

Becuase the PAR in knot that high on 20k bulbs if you up the wattage on 20k the PAR should be good to use them .

400W MH are really overkill on a 75g. A good 250W or even a very good 175W 20K lamp should be plenty of light for keeping just about anything.

Save your money for LED's i think most people would what one including myself besides VHO's are old technology.
