Hey I have 2 250 metal halide lights with 4 actinc bulbs. I wanted to know if its to much light for my 120gal? No corals just small fish. Hope to do corals soon.
I think your issues will be heat and its also an expensive rig to run without corals. You could get away with a lot less in a fish only system. Just pick reef safe fish and start putting some coral frags in there!
unless you are planning to keep sps you dont really need the halides at all. and if all you have are fish right now you will be fine just running a couple of the t5's
yea bro it's definitely overkill lol you don't need halides for fish they are more for keeping hard corals. A big waste on electric like the sauce said if you don't have any coral whatsoever you will just get tons of algae..
What you have is fine if you want to start keeping corals it's just too much for only fish..the halides use up tons of electricity especially 2 250w that was the only points we were making. Buy a frag or 2 and see what happens..good luck brotha
You can keep actually any coral with the lighting you have, you just have to figure out where is the best place to put them.Check cal/alk and ph first.
