Question of the day. I was wondering if it was alright to restrict the outflow of my return pump from my sump. I currently have a Poseidon P4 pump which is rated for 1080gps at 3 feet. I have shut off valve about 7 inches up the return pipe. The reason I am asking the question, is I have a 3/4" Seaswirl that I would like to hook up again and want to T both return pipes to one sea swirl which is rated for 835gps.

Would it be detrimental to restrict the outflow for the pump?

Thanks in advance

It's fine, it's no different than if your tank was a few feet higher. You are simply creating more head by slightly closing a valve.
