Main differences between VHO and T5 act. supplementation?

I know someone selling an Icecap ballast but also with 8 prewired VHO sockets. Ive never used VHOs but I suspect the light is more like a Giesemann Pure Actinic... more violet/purple than blue. Any advantages/disadvantages to using one supplementation method over the other? (VHO bulbs/T5 actinics)

Anyone have any thoughts?

its a PITA to find VHO bulbs nowdays. there is also a greater variety of t5 bulbs available.
