sugguestions on RO units

what kind to you guys think? i know its going to take foreverrrr but im going to try to start using my 72bow with an RO unit instead of tap. the tank has been going great but ive always had nitrates and my algae is becoming a problem. how long you think its going to take or is it even worth trying to start RO unit and doing big water changes?

Almost any RODI unit is better than tap. I have the Typhoon III from airwaterice.com My unit is 5 years old. I replaced the 100gpd membrane with a 150gpd membrane last year. Other than that I just replace the other filters as recommended. I also use the refillable DI cartridge.

There are cheaper units on eBay, some of them quite good, but it's hard to beat the service at AWI.

Start by just doing your normal PWC's with RODI water and use only RODI water for evaporation top-off. It won't take long.
