i am currently using a kalk reactor. is there any advantage/disadvantage to using a calcium reactor? thanks

My understanding of the chemistry is that the Kalk reactor will not provide sufficient alkalinity to the aquarium.

It all depends on the needs of your system. Kalkwasser additions are limited by the rate of evaporation of your system and the system pH. ( how much water you can drip in and how high the pH gets as kalkwasser has a very high pH) If you can add enough Alk and Ca ions for your system via kalkwasser you do not need anything else. For many heavily stocked, fast growing reefs this is not the case because of the limitations above.

well i have mostly lps and just added sps. my ph always stays at 8.3 . i am just wondering as i just added the sps if i needed an upgrade. i dose esv alk both morning and night to keep at steady 9.0 alk

If you are already dosing ESV why not just stick with that?
