Visiting the city- LFS recommendations?

I am taking a trip into the city to visit UniqueCorals and was wondering what other good reef places were in the general vicinity that would also be worth checking out while I am there? Any suggestions?

nope, thats pretty much it, the closest reef store to there is new york aquariums, or something like that on 32 and like 3rd ave, but they suck, and are expensive and will treat you like crap. UNIQUECORALS OR "manhattan Aquariums" as we call them is they best store in mahattan, nice stuff good selection and mention u are a MR member and they give u a discount

new world aquarium - 204 East 38th Street....it is a big store and worth the trip as well

thats the store i was talkin about NEW WORLD AQUARIUM, STAY AWAY, THESE GUYS ARE SUCH A-HOLES they wont give u a price over the fone cuz its against "store policy".
If you go to uniquecorals, new world aquariums will seem like a joke to you, stay away.

I went to New world aquarium and i was going to spend $380 and i told them i was going to take everything if they gave me this regal tang they had which was $49.99 for 39.99 the guy said he can't, immpossible no way, take in mind everything was already bagged and i said alright forget it and they let me go out the door. I was going to go back in but i decided not to, take in mind this happenned in the summer of 08, not sure about now did they change??

Sorry, but I find this very hard to believe. I've been going there since they where on E8th and never had a problem asking them for a deal on something, especially if I was buying a large amount of stuff or something that was expensive to start with.

I couldnt believe it myself but i should have been more clear it was not all livestock, it was a coralife light, coralife skimmer, 2 ocellaris clowns, and a cleaner shrimp. okay i dont know the profit margin on equipment and maybe they were not making alot of money on the sale but come on for $10, the only reason i was thinking of going back in was because to tell you the truth it was a good price for the things i was getting. I dont know who i was dealing with but maybe the guy did not have authority to mark down a price. On the other hand i do know of someone who goes to NWA and gets good prices, i guess because he is a repeated customer
