Pro's & Con's of fuge

Today I am redoing my plumbing on the 40 breeder. I want to feed my fuge from the drain not from after it goes through the sock and skimmer. i have done some research but just want to see if anyone here has any Pro's & Con's

I have my drain in the fuge,then flows over to the skimmer,then the return.It works good for me.

just curious.r u not going to have a filter sock..

i am only going to run a filter sock 1 week in the fuge and like normal all the time on the main section.... alot have seen my fuge i have tons of critters in there to et the food that makes it through lol
