Just curious in knowing if someone could give me some suggestions/ advise. I set up my JBJ 28 gal nano led tank yesterday. The tank seems to be running on a steady 84 degrees. Thats with 89 watts led on and with lights off as I checked this a.m and still 84. What could be causing high temp. All that is running is heater which I set down to like 74 and the stock pumps which are Accela Pumps: (2) x 266 gph / 16 Watt. I am not running stock wavemaker. So what do you guys think?

A lot of nanos like JBJ or Oceanics overheat regardless to the fan, keep the lip open on the cover so the heat can escape, still keep your heater on though at the right temp. I don't understand why they build covers in a compact area like that with such powerful lighting

my temp is 84 all thru the night (lights off).. i just turn off one of the accela pumps and the temp went down to 82.. so im assuming i cant run both pumps at the same time? but i know other jbj owners that run both there pumps with no problem. i dis connected heater.. let see if it goes down

Temp issuse is one of the drawbacks to a closed top tank.....even with LED's. Of course pump heat isn't helping. You will need to increase evaporative cooling in the warmer months to keep the tank from overheating. Maybe you can mod the hood with a computer fan?

Maybe check the thermometer like mentioned before. I run a JBJ 28 with both pumps running constantly, It has the PC fixture and a 150W heater. The top is alway closed and I have no problems. My buddy has the same tank and has no issues as well. I would look into the thermometer and heater. Those pumps shouldn't heat up your water unless something is wrong with one of them.

That's your problem .Every piece of electrical divice produce heat when in use.The more power heads used the more heat generated by them.

I should have said one of the problems. You might need a submersible thermometer to adjust your heater.
