Decibel Meter is a cool iPhone app that measures sound through the mic of the iPhone.
I found this when I wanted to compare the fan noises of some light fixtures I had.
So, for instance, in a normal aquarium operating mode holding the iPhone at a hieght of 3 feet and a distance of 3 feet with the mic pointed toward my tank with the centerline of the iPhone perpendicular to my tank I took my readings. I tried in several locations with no background noises when the lights were on and when the lights were off.
This is on a 75 gallon RR with a 10 gallon sump. I have a AquaC 120 with mag5.
40-45 db with lights on.
30 db with no lights on.
Anyone else?
