Great unit but when I calculated the RO to waste water ratio it ends up being 1 gal RO to 25 gal waste? Does this sound right? It would end up wasting over 1300 gal of water to fill a 60 gal tank. Any thoughts?

65 psi should definitely give you better output than 1:25

Are you using ice cold water? Temp should be about 77 F for optimum output. Honestly though, even if it's cold 1:25 is still ridiculous.

Outside faucet water, so yes cold. Does the restrictor fit around the membrane? A round rubber seal? If so, its on there. Now, I did look in the packaging and found "plugs" that fit in the ro and waste outlet tubes. They make the opening narrower. Would this help in restricting the water flow? Can't see it helping that much, but will try it. I need to get this thing in the single digit waste gallons or I need to return it. I can't see wasting so much water. Initially when I started looking into RO units, I saw a 1:3 ratio. 1:25 is NUTS! More suggestions would be helpful! Thanks! :banghead:

I have an old three stage Corallife RO (free from old club raffle) and it uses this type of flow restrictor

It goes in the waste water side of the RO membrane.

I don't remember my unit came with an instruction, I am sure you can do some searches on how other brands are put together and see what else can be wrong with your unit.

I personally would have bought something from Jim or Russ, as they can walk you thru how to set one of these things up.

Aha! I found two things wrong. 1. The waste and ro lines were swapped and both had restrictors in the tube. I corrected. 2. Membrane was not fully seated in chamber! Corrected. :flower:

So far looks to be 1,000,000 times better. I am running tests now on ro:waste ratio and time.

Hopefully will get the advertised ratio 1:3.

Will report back soon!

Cold water about 1 Ro to 4 Waste. Not bad. Advertised 1:3 per hour. Got that in about 2 hours. I'm sure the cold water doesn't help but I am in no super rush and I will see what happens when using the recommended warmer water temp. Now to start filling that 60g. Should be done in about 1 year! Haa Haa. :division:

Thanks for all the input.
