Hermie my hermitcrab died today.
He had his introduction to crammed Manhattan living and gourmet dining about 5 years ago when Eric purchased him and his compadre at Petco. After killing his friend (eliminating the competition), Hermie led an abnormally long life considering he was a $5 hermitcrab that regularly consumed $50 meals. Radiatas were his favorite although he thoroughly enjoyed his occasional chocolate (chip starfish). Somehow he always knew which rock to hide under so Eric couldn't pull him out and kill him after catching him red-handed devouring the latest Flying Fish Express shipment. He was living proof that if you set your mind to it you can do anything (including catching damsels - now how many MR-ers out there can do that?)
Hermie enjoyed three apartments and survived multiple moves, and both September 11th and the Great Blackout. He was a tough guy that liked to change outfits often and walk around naked (sometimes). His last residence was our sump and apparently he didn't like his new roommate - the MR2. I will miss him. I loved that hermitcrab.
