currently i have a 34g solana that is pretty cramped as far as corals are. i have no more room on the rocks for new corals and have started to glue them to the back wall.
i'm thinking about upgrading to the marineland 70g cube, which is 30x30x18. costs will be about $410 for the tank and $250 for the stand. Where i need help is on skimmer, lights, and sump. i've never run a sump before as I only have had all in ones.
so what lighting would you guys recommend? would the ati powermodule 24' 8 bulb be enough? or would it be too much? perhaps the 6 bulb?
what skimmer would be good? i've heard great things about the ATI cone skimmers.
what about a sump? how should it be set up? should i buy a premade one?
My thoughts on equipment so far...
skimmer: Super Reef Octopus 1000 (inside the stand, i have about 24' to work with. this skimmer is 20'. is that enough room to remove the skimmer cup?)
lighting: two 160w maxspect LED lighting. (anyone have thoughts? i was contemplating the ati 24' 8 bulb fixture, but the cost for the ati is comparable to two maxspects. plus bulb changes will cost about $200 a year...)
return pump: eheim 1262. (was also thinking about a mag drive, but i hear they rust. is the eheim 1262 too much for the tank?)
