So i decided to take out my sump/skimmer/filters, etc and clean everything. Long story short the piece on the Octopus skimmer that attaches to the pump cracked. Do I have to buy a new skimmer or does someone have an idea as to how I can fix this. Right now tank is running skimmerless. This sucks.

Can you bridge the 2 pieces with vinyl tubing? heat it up so it stretches then zip tie and silicon it after it cools down and tightens up maybe? I dont know never had that skimmer. Good luck fixing it.

Some plastic barb fiting from home depot a drill and some acrylic glue like weldon may do the trick if you are handy.
You won't need to buy a new skimmer. Does that smaller cylindrical piece slip out or is it glued?

+1 but u will have to let it sit over night and do a test run b4 you put it back in the sump
That small piece doesn't slip out. The attached pic is a black fitting that connects the pump to the skimmer. The plastic that cracked is stuck insider there too.
Not the handiest guy really but can def follow directions so by all means elaborate.

Looks like a PVC coupler and a small piece of pipe should fix it. Is the piece in your hand a slip fit or threaded on the inside?

i would take that black piece to home depot and get a new piece for a buck or so and clean it and pvc glue it back on the skimmer ....let it dry over night and you should be ready to go in the morning.....

o yea the new piece will be white not black and the end that goes back on the skimmer will no longer have the threadsso it will slide over the piece on the skimmer ....

Piece of cake to fix. Just go to HD and get yourself a Fernco Flexible Coupler.
A screwdriver is all you'll need to attach it.

Oh man I wish. Seriously. Thanks for all the input. I'll go to my local hardware store by my office and see if we could make some kind of combo.
