Pickling Lime

anybody knows where i can find this stuff??
thought i have seen it in a stop&shop but i couldn't find it the other day

I use Hydrated Lime from a landscaping/feed store.

Pickling lime is mostly a fall time item. (when the produce is ripe)

If I still have the bag (it was a 5 pounder) Somewhere in my storage locker, I'll give you a pound for free. I'm going there tomorrow to dig some fish stuff out, so I'll see if I still have it.

I'm new to the hobby. What is Pickling Lime used for ???? I know this is a stupide Question, but I was curious.

Its used as a calcium additive and alkalinity buffer. Kalkwasser is what they call it or calcium hydroxide.
You can use it with your top-off water to replace the calcium that your corals use up. Calcium is one of the most important essential elements. Do a search for kalkwasser for more information on how to use it.
Mrs Wages is a food grade pickling lime that you can buy cheap at the grocery store(Or online).

thanx for the offer bad coffee, but i actually want at least the pickling lime quality....although i realize that alot of retail/wholesale etc actually use the garden stuff

i searched everything from target to wholesale liquidators for the pickling lime with no result, so i guess i just have to give mrs wages a call...

mrs wages ships ups ground and takes up to 15 days to process....this is out of the question

Stratus, order from the link that I provided. It usually takes 3-5ays.

Redrum, you don't add anything to it, just mix it with water. You can however add vinegar to your kalk mix to make it more potent but thats a whole different story. I suggest you go on reef central and do a search for Kalkwasser.....tons of info there.
