so i have three bubble tip anemones, a rose, a green, and a green/brown/white. when i got them they had the bubble tip look (actually bubble tips) after awhile they all turn into having just strait tenticles. they are growing, eat like crazy and lighting is around 5 watts per gallon. water is fine. every now and then when they close up a tiny bit they get the bubbles again. my rose gets the bubble look alot but very small bubble tenticles. what is causing this and why dont they keep the bubble tip look?

Are you directly feeding them? They get straighter tips when they are hungry. Get a silverside or 2 and feed them. They will love it!

they eat alot of krill and prawn, you think they would like silversides better? i will switch if you think thats better. my rose is about the size of my palm, maybe a tad smaller, the green is about 7 inches long and the green/brown is like 5-6 inches.

Don't remember where I read about this, but it was on one of those info sites like wikepedia. No one seems to know why it happens, many guesses that for sure, but no real evidence of why. From being happy to being sad. Mine go back and forth with the bubble tips. And mine are under 4hrs. of MH & 9hrs. of VHO, and get silversides, prawns that I directly feed to all plus what ever else my clowns give them.;)
I don't worry as long as their mouths are not gaping, or constantly walking about.:)

well i have 6 t-5s too, i hand feed them all the time, plus they always grab some goodies when i feed the fish. i will say though i tried the silversides, took some time to eat it. usually when i put krill on them they take it slowly and close up and eat it then re-open. when i put the silversides on them they kind of jumped a bit then closed slowly. all of them ate it, took longer but i figured hey it is more then regular to eat. when they reopened the big gbta actually had the semi bubble tip back. he did not do the huge open like normal though but still a decent size.

how much should i do the silversides a week. i know this all seems like a amature questions but i dont really care, i been doing salt for years now and i am really trying to stay on my game because i noticed my tanks are really looking better so i am not caring anymore about spending a work paycheck to staisfy my tank. i know how to do mostly everything, im no amature, yet it always helps when people say i am correct or me getting simple advice just to make my tank family that much happier!
