my buddy actually use to have a puffer that he trained to go through a hoop and to push a ping pong ball across the top of the tank into the hoop. puffers have alwasys been known to be very interactive, so he used it to his ability...sadly it actually jumped out randomly abour a year ago...

Conditioning. Same reason your fish come to the tank when you walk over to it.
