75/72 gallon tanks ...

Just out of curiousity I have a 72 bow RR and the megaflow overflow kit ... I was wondering whatr size return pump are you guys running? I have a mag9 and it seems to be too much. I have to dial it down cause the overflow cant handle it. What do you guys suggest I have even tried the hofer gurgle buster and that did help A LOT for the noise prob i was having.

Just get a ballvalve and you'll be set. I rather keep the mag 9 in case I want to T off the return for anything like a reactor or something.
Or you can get a mag 7

it can flow max i think abt 600-650 per 1" drain...not sure what you have for drains... but i would def agree w/ ming put a ball valve on it id rater have too much flow and dial it back for accesories then not have enough...

I have a ball valve on it now and its turned back but doesnt that put extra pressure on the pump? I have a 1" drain with the Hofer gurgle buster b/c the gurgle was horrible in the tank ... decisions decision

as long as the ball valve is on the outlet of the pump and not the inlet, it is okay

i didnt think we had to explain that part... but it depends on the type of pump..if its a mag drive it makes it work harder/if its a shaft drive it actually conserves energy usage...but either way wont hurt anything

i had the same tank and mag 7 worked perfect, even had to cut back on the ball valve, but leave the mag 9 if you bought it already

also thought of that - but this tank is brand new and the last thing i wanna do is mess it up some how haha
