Hey Doc I read your entire thread.. you have 28 gal With a Remora Skimmer. I read you were testing your water and doing water changes. What kinda puzzled me was the plastic puffer you added. Was it made for a marine setup. Who knows where it was made and if the paint used on the figurine was lead based. Emerald crabs and snails tend to eat at coraline algae. What if the inverts ate away at the coraline and stripped the glazed coating off the paint and causing who knows what to leach out. Get rid of it 1st then do a 10% water change and post your results of water quality numbers. Also list what test kits you used to test with. Reading threw your thread, the die off has been telling you something, but you refused to see it.
I'm trying to help you resolve the issue. Try that 1st and we'll eliminate 1 step at a time.

++1 at a bigger tank

I lost ton of fish that I never took out due to behind rock and that never made tank crash?
I still think its something else

I have also and never made my tank crash as well! the only thing that makes me think it was the tailspot is the fish was still intact with no signs of CUC trying to get rid of it. Either it just died or something was wrong with it so I am simply hoping that was the cause. I will search for other things but all the equipment is fine!
Is today the swap? Whomever is going have a blast, wish i could go

I always have a 50 gal rubbermaid container around in case something like this happens or my tank springs a leak. The containers are great for storing things and in an emergency they can be used as a spare tank. They are also very cheap, but don't plan on putting 50 gal in a 50 gal container. It really could only hold about 30 gal safely.

Hey Doc, quick question, before the start of your problem when was the last time you did a water change? If it was recent, when did you last change the cartridges on your RODI? Last year the corals in my tank began to look bad and I happen to check the TDS on the RODI and they were over 20. The bladder in the pressure tank broke and the inside of the tank began to rust and clogged the filter cartridges... just a thought. Good luck, Neil.

The way my tank is setup its impossible anything could fall in it but better to be safe and double check so I will again tonight
