I need some advice on a test kit. Which one should I get? I am ordering a whole bunch of stuff on Foster and Smiths Site. How many lbs of sand should I get for my 90? I want to put about 3 inches of sand in. I am going to mix arganite sand and fiji pink sand and get some a couple of cups of live sand from an established tank.

Thanks,

James

I appreciate it

It is my first setup. I have miracle mud in my fuge with cheato in it already. I have a little bit in there, not sure if I need more. As far as the live sand goes, I will need a few cups of it. I will let you know. Thank you very much.

To get to 3 inches in a standard 90G, I think you'll need in the area of 120-130 pounds. For a new settup, Ammonia, and Nitrites are the important ones. PH, Alk, Ca, and Mg are the basice you should test for regularly once the tank has cycled. I think you'll find a lot of folks using Salifert and Elos, though others work too. When your test results seem out of line, alwasy re-test, and then test against a different brand.
