corals, fish, inverts, equipment. to be honest, i think it's great to have just a general discussion and not seperate into sub-boards too much. that way, each thread can get more traffic instead of having to click and search through different forums.
I agree with Mantis but maybe you could divide it into three or four major categories. 1.Lighting and Filtration, 2.Newbie, 3.Corals and Coral Propagation, and 4.General Disscusion (about anything else but those other topics). This way it wouldn't be too much to search through but it would also be easier to get help.
to keep a compromise, we can just divide it slightly, just to make it a little clearer, but not too much.
how about:
1) Livestock
2) Drygoods
3) General Discussion
You have a good point Shaun. I only pay attention to the SPS forum on RC. I guess because my tank is 95% SPS
I do like the single general discussion forum. It seems more like home
and we can probably get away with it for a while. It also does give me a chance to read about all topics. But, as the website grows, I'm sure you can see the problems we may run into. Picture reefcentral with just one general discussion forum So, maybe as Albert said, we should compromise. Maybe just adding a New to the Hobby forum will give newbies the specialized attention they need and at the same time keeping the general discussion forum a little more "seasoned"
What about asking members to use a standard convention in the subject line like the following:
Those who need help would use:
Need Help - Tank Leak :-(
Those that want to share ideas would use:
I have an idea - Let's Turn our living rooms into tanks!!
Those that want to share thier successes:
Tank Shots - Mixed Reef 1 yr old
I am too thinking that seperating them out is good for management, but maybe not good for the community at large. That being said, I like it the way it is for now, maybe we can jst be clearer?
I like the forums the way it is now. More forums would mean spending more time to hunt for information. Icons or more informative headers would be good.
