hi guys i have a ?. well ever since I've been in the hobby I've been using quiet one pump 780 for my 55g reef tank as my main pump, i really love the pump because it use low watt and produces little heat i have it connected to a scwd with 2 returns . everytime i turn the pump off to do a water change it takes me for ever to get the pump to start again i even soaked it in vinegar, also my scwd is stuck on one side, any way i would like to know if i should get a eheim 1260 or 1262 remember I'm goin to run it with a scwd with 2 returns . im plannin on puttin the scwd with some vineger , i have 3 yrs with it and this is my first maintenance if it doesn't work then ill get a new one . sorry for l the writing.

I had the same problem with a new Quiet One Pump from the start .I thought it was because someone dropped the pump still in the box .The pump had a big dent and they shipped it to me anyway.I use the Mag Drives now with no problems.

I also use Mag Drive pumps and never had a problem with them starting up. I was thinking of getting an Eheim for a 50 gallon tank I started, but when I saw it was more than twice as expensive as the Mag 5 I initially planned to use i passed on it. I understand the heat concern as the Mag's do get hot, but a few fans have always kept my temperatures at acceptable levels.

If you have serious issues with heat control then maybe spending the extra $ on the Eheim would be worth it. In my case it was not worth the extra cash.

I use mag pumps to do water changes at work.. The problem is the impeller, they go after a while.. I used to find myself having to hit the pump a couple times to get it statred.. I used a 7 for a year and then it went I now use a 9..

The quietone is a piece of junk. Whenever it turns off takes at least 30 minutes to turn back on. Finally stopped turning on completely so I went out and purchased a eheim 1262 and haven't looked back. Definetely a great pump and worth the price in my opinion.
