Whats a good Protein Skimmer for a 75 gallon?

I'm looking for a quality protein skimmer for a 75 gallon thats not going to kill my pockets. Higher quality than a sea clone but nothing crazy expensive. I just need an idea of what to research and perhaps get it used.

What's your budget and bioload? Those two are very important variables. Also, are you going full on sps reef or just soft corals?

i had a vertex in 100 on my 75 gal with 30 gal sump and loved it

bubble magus works well and cheap...octo extremes are good with the sicce pumps...
theres a few new cone skimmers out now that are under 300$ and will handle a 75...when it comes to skimmers...i think the newer designs are the way to go...but there are so many its overwhelming to choose one..it all comes down to your research and which one you like the most(price/size/performance)....have fun.....lol

you will get a different answer when you ask "which skimmer to get"
so research and narrow down to a few choices and ask in the forums about experiences with them


i personally use a bubble magus NAC7 in a 20g high with a custom sump...very happy with it.
not much skimmate..i just cleaned it last night

Ive seen great results with my euroreef rs80. A little underpowered but my bioload isnt that high....yet
