I have a ER CS8-2-RC which is a 8" diameter, 24" height external recirculating skimmer run with a Sedra KP5000 and I think it sucks.
I run a much smaller Deltec AP600 on a slightly bigger tank than the ER is on and it consistently does a much better skimmate than the ER.

On the older lines that is designated with CS***, it would need the letters -RC after the model to be a external recirc, otherwise it's an in sump.

They were so big awhile back and all of a sudden (to me) it just died down, I guess I'll save up for the H&S or a deltec

the h & S is worth its weight in gold. so much better engineered, the pump is so much better also. I'm selling my h&s a110, if you're interested pm me.

check out the ASM cost wise a great skimmer set up with recir mod I have a G4 with sedra 9000 and it Kicks butt on my 450 ( large fish populated reef)
