Was at the shop today trying to figure out if I need to purchase an LED system or just stand pat with my 50/50 lighting.

Got some good advice as well as a demonstration.....now just like flatscreens I'm itching to switch!!

What do you think?:smokin:

I have been running my new LED's from wingo about 180 watts of power with about 450 to 500 watt MH puts out in par/lumens. I can only say that most of 95% of my SPS are now coming to color better then there where with T5s and all the new SPS I put in the last week and a half seem to be doing great. My new purple monster isnt that deep purple yet but polyps are showing so Im thing its happy just needs to get use to its new home. So if you give me a couple more weeks I can let you know more.. but look wise they make my tank look GREAT... You can see some picture on this link.

fwiw, i am running some leds for an upcoming podcast review. I replaced 500w of halides with about 160 watts of LED's. once i made the switch i had to run an additional 400 watts of heaters to keep my tank up to temp. not exactly a great trade off in terms of savings.

Wow,
I also replaced 500 watts of halide & 220 watts of VHO with LEDs & my chiller still goes off 4 to 5 times a day to keep the temps down.
