Hello everyone....I want to make a tank with miracle mud on the bottom and just grow sea grass and mangroves in it and eventually put seahorses in it as well and maybe some gorgs and feather dusters. But I was wondering, can anyone help me on figuring out how many pounds of it I need. I want to make it 3 inches deep and I have a 20X12 area to cover. I was going to use the sand bed calculator but I don't know how much many lbs of mud per cubic foot. If anyone can help me out I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Fortunato

i dont think it will cause your system to cycle or anything. however, i do think its going to get all over the place in your tank and make a huge mess ;)

If there are dead organics in the MM then they will decompose and set off a small cycle. If your system is healthy and been running for over a year or two, the biological colonies should easily be able to handle the load.

Well I just set up my 210 34 days ago so it doesn't fit under the "year or two" but a lot of the rock in there came from my 75 which was set up for a couple years and some of it was newly cycled rock.

My idea is to make my 20G into a seahorse/planted tank. I want to make the bottom all mud then put some seagrass in it and mangroves. And maybe later on add a piece of my gorgonia in it and a couple feather duster. Overall I want to recreate a very peaceful setting that I saw in the DR even though there was sand there I think the mangroves would to better in the mud since I've grown them in the past

If the tank is only 34 days old, and you being an experienced reefer, then it's obvious you don't have any bioload in there now. You probably don't even have any critters at all. So why would you worry about a cycle? Add the mud and be done with it. ;)
