I'd be more concerned about the live rock. The extremely small amount of copper in silicone shouldn't affect much if at all. But live rock is extremely porous and will absorb copper like a sponge. Simply having some live rock in a tank with copper medication, you will notice the copper levels in the water start going down day after day because its being absorbed by the rocks... until the rock is fully saturated with copper.
Sand is just a lot of really small live rock, so the same rule applies to sand.

+1 on this point

I also agree with Rick - I'd get a Tek fixture instead. Individual reflectors maximize your lighting.
The fixture you referenced only refers to a single reflector. :(

nah no LR in there and im replacing the sand, i already have the light =/ but just wondering if it was decent choice, ive heard some horror stories about copper as well, but im doing a lot of water changes and have no live stock in it as of yet. im not making any drastic changes until im certain i can.

Cuprisorb + water changes and in a few weeks throw a snail in and see what happens. than ill try some cheap LPS after a few more water changes after its untraceable.

im going to check out the Tek though. wanna do a 65g tank next. looking at one now thats 36" as well so ill check it.
