How long should I run my light in my sump I'm growing cheto????

I run mine opposite of my display tanks light cycle, about 12hrs on and 12hrs off. Cheto needs a rest period.

Why oppsite any reason? Cut down on heat??

The affect of CO2 uptake by the algae reduces carbon dioxide in the water. Carbon dioxide is held in the water as carbonic acid so when lights are on the water is becoming less acidic.
The lights in your DT power algae during the day, the reverse schedule powers the fuge at night.

u can leave the light on 24/7 but opposite main light would balance out the ph better
