Is it just me, or can anyone else NOT get this stuff to fully disolve? It has been mixing for two days. I mean really, come on,,INSTANT????,,Hardly!!!
I guess sometimes, you get what you pay for.
I will never stray from TMPR again.

I've only had issues with IO not melting when I got moisture from splash in there and the salt became hard. Then it doesn't dissolve fully quite right for some reason.
I'ved used it for 7 years and minus getting moisture in the bucket, it never failed to dissolve for me. Roughly a few minutes to fully dissolve

Always cloudy isn't a good thing. I'd consider testing that saltwater and probably not add it to the tank, especially if its not fully dissolving. Salt on a coral will burn it.
I've heard IO having bad batches where the parameters were way off in some buckets a few years ago, but not anytime recently.

It actually does eventually melt Jim, but I would guess the difference is in comparing it to TMPR which melts uber fast. Any other salt will seem slow.

What temp is the water you are trying to melt it in?

No issues.. except for the residue in the 32 gallon bin for mixing it after it dries. I use a mag 9.5 to mix the salt and rodi water and let it run for 2 days in the bin to raise the temp to 85* No clumping issues at that temp and I know for certain its fully dissolved. Try increasing the temp.

This happens if the bag is not tied securely and air get in it.Let it settle at the bottom and use the clear portion. No harm to corals or fish.

Just recently had this prob once. It was the bottom of the bag and I think it may have been a moisture problem too. Since the rest of the bag mixed without a problem. But yes there was a film on top of the water and little white particles throughout the bucket.

Mixed a new batch from a different bag of salt and everything was fine.

Kathy,, I only make 5 gallons at a time, and I dont use a heater or an air stone when I am mixing just an mj1200. So temp is probably 65 degrees in the summer and 47-55 degrees in the winter. You know I am not a rule follower LOL.

I dont really like the idea of using cloudy water, although it does clear up once it is in the tank,, fairly quickly.
Maybe I should just start using a white bucket so I can't see the little white crumbs on the bottom. lol
