Feather Dusters

Hi guys...I was wondering, not that this is all that bad, but I have a huge colony of small feather dusters that is growing under one of my caves in my rockwork and it seems to be expanding. Is there any way to control them? I kind of feel bad just ripping them about because they do look really nice.

I have a whole lot as well but i don't consider them a problem yet.Their spawn could be beneficial to corals and such.

they are filter feeders, so that location must be a good feeding spot. I believe you mean the small ones that attach to rock.

All of the above is some what correct but they can smother Zoas like weeds.

I had like a hundred of the tiny white spiral ones on my glass before my tank cracked. Annoying but I left them on.

I am sure you must have removed some of these guys by tweezers and they multiply like crazy.

Crabs is what I am trying. So I bought some hermit crabs. These crabs, have good and bad things. Mine like to kill my snails even though I have extra shells in the sand. I have not seen an improvement yet.

Also, thinking of an Emerald crab. However, in my tank, they only last about 1 year.

I like those little guys.. I have a ton that grow in my fuge and on occassion I take them from the fuge and toss them in my tank.. The look great and don't do in harm IME.

From talking to other reefers, it is clear that having a few feather dusters that they have looks nice.

This is not the same thing, when these feather dusters are all over the tank and literally take over the tank. Very different from being cute, to being a pest.
You would not like it, when the worms wrap around your SPS, you pick them off and they come back in 1-2 weeks. Very different...
