I change my filter sock every 3 days! Not too sure about the pad though. I bought extra socks so that when I am off and my wife works, I put them in the wash with no soap or bleach.

The best way is to have 2 sets of socks. Remove the used ones and soak in bleach water for a day while using the fresh set. After soaking in Bleach, take it out and rinse it off and soak in regular water or RO water until you need to clean the other set. Rinse before use.

MATT - I use filter pads not socks. I change out about every 3 days & throw them in the washing machine (about 10 at a time) with a capful of bleach and an extra rinse cycle then air dried. The pads are kept in a covered salt bucket with water so they dont smell too funky when opened. Note - This is all done while the wife is not at home - otherwise I'd be going to the laundromat too.

I have four sets and change them out twice a week and I wash them in a laundry sink....no bleach or soap...no pads..just phosban changed out every three months, but the amount used and how often you change the socks and phosban will depend on the volumn of water and bio-load.
