the pillow tops arent so good, you cant flip them... lol

it all depends on what your looking to do.. some tanks go bare bottom, some have deep sand beds, some have mid depth sandbeds for astetics.. then theres crushed coral, argonite, pink fiji sand(fine)... so what tye of setup are you looking to build and youll get a better answer depending you what your doing...

I currently have a reef tank and im using like a very fine sand but i noticed that all of my rocks get full of sand, and as many times i try to fan the sand off the rocks it will still come back. so im trying to find out that maybe sand wasn't a good idea since it goes all over the place.

You might want to add a heavier grain sand to your sandbed (how deep is it currently?). It would help hold down the finer particles. Do make sure you rinse it well before using and best if you cycle it first in a small tank before adding it to your existing tank so you don't cause a mini-cycle in your DT.

also check you direction of your powerheads.. if they are angled too far down they will blow the sand around and create mini sand drifts.. but get a small bag of crushed argonite and rinse it good to get out all the residual floating sand and then use a small plastic cup and lower it slowly thru the water and pour it ontop of the sand, mix it in a little bit with your fingers but mot to much as to stir up anything...
