Lighting Question..

so im thinking abt using my 92g corner bow as my new reef tank downgrade
my big question is lighting.. what should i use? besides LED(dont have the money for that)

its gonna be an SPS dominant tank.

Why don't you just go with a nice Sun System Galaxy Select-A-Watt 250w/400w Electronic Ballast?
Then.....
a LumenMax Elite - Mogul Base Pendant-175/250/400w (we do carry it. I just haven't added it to our site yet).
Then.....
you can add either a Radium 400w SE 20k MH Bulb or an Ushio 400w SE 10k, 14k or 20k bulb.

Hope this helps. It affords you the opportunity to setup the lighting system with both a 250w & 400w Mogul base system with nothing to change but the bulb if you wanted to switch it out between wattages. I think you might be able to get the full effect of the light you need with the 400w LumenMax Elite Pendant. This pendant has a huge footprint of 17.5"x14.5". If you need more coverage, just raise the pendant a bit and make sure you use a 400w bulb. If you find that you don't have to raise it as high as originally thought, then lower it and switch it to a 250w bulb (or even leave it as a 400w). The options are there and any of the options are quality, and well thought out.

I think it's a win win situation going with that combination of ballast/pendant & bulbs.

Now that's exactly my point....I think you'd be able to get away with one 400w with a nice size footprint reflector. The LumenMax Elite is a very nice size. Raise it up and you get more coverage. If you decide to go with softy's & LPS then you can always switch to 250w without any more expense, other than the bulb.
