Hi All,

I have a 14 gallon Biocube and the light fixture is partly working. I have only two bulbs on. (Where can I get that fixed?). Anyway, I was thinking of upgrading to an LED fixture or T5? Any suggestions or advice?

I got the nanotuners.com 5.6 LED retro kit for my BC29 and its awesome. They also have one on their site for the 14. The growth in general on my zoas and LPS compared to the stock lights increased substantially and now I can have SPS which is booming.

Depending on what you are trying to achieve IMO its a high up front cost, but well worth it.

I agree with going for an LED...but if your considering upgrading your tank anytime soon, the money might better be spent on that.

Was pondering a light upgrade on my JBJ 28.....but the $600 +/- pricetag kinda shot that down.

The Nanotuners retrofit is awesome because it's so clean it looks damn near factory. To Trigger-- Acan lighting is nice but I don't think it'll fit in the hood of the Biocube.

If I were you though, for a tank that small. I'd make my own fixture.

The retro fit looks awesome! I agree with Dako though, it's pretty expensive. I would rather get a larger tank with a sump for $500-$600 is it possible?

Make my own fixture? How so?

Thanks for all the input

well a 12" acan is 350..I'm sure it's better than the nanotuners and around the same price just hang it forget the hood it's going to cause alot of evaporation anyway and like I said it's fully programmable and dimmable no need for additional timers not to mention the POP on the corals is sick. You also get a 2 year warranty and if you have any issues with it they give you a replacement right away they are located right in suffolk long island.
