The best way to not have to worry about it is to cycle it in a bucket before you add it :)

It would halp to know how much rock is in the tank now (a pic would be best as telling us the weight of the rock isn't a good indicator of volume) ..same with the rock you plan to add.)

This tank is 75g?

How long has the tank been set up for now?

Yes you can put in DRY rock. Just rinse the rock before using. Because you will pulling your tank apart to put the dry rock underneath be prepared to do a water change after reaquascaping.

Can you clear something up - is it 'base' rock or 'dried up coral live rock'..they are not the same thing.
If dried up rock, was it old rock of yours? If not, where did you get it?

Are you planning to reaquascape entirely or just add more rock in various places?
