cycling a 300 tank?!

the live sand should start the cycle for you, if it hasn't then i see nothing wrong with feeding fish food, just be sure to monitor your ammonia and nitrites before you put any fish in there. Patience my friend!

i used a shrimp also to kick off the ammonia spike... but in a tank that large you should not smell it. just make sure its not floating at the top
