Try turning off your pumps for a bit when you take pics. Don't forget that we also have to deal with WATER MOVEMENT. you can put the camera on a tripod, set it for mirror pre lock, use a remote/cable release (things you should look into) but if your pumps are on, the water is still moving past the lens. (and carrying a bunch of gunk with it most likely.)
I've got a whole set of time-life books from the 80's on photography. Way before digital, but the basic principles of shooting are there. If you want I can get them for you. (involves a call to my roommates though)
