quick question, my buddy ran out of salt and the only salt they had at the lfs was brightwell salt. he started to make it and the water and salt got so hot that it was steaming and actually felt like it could have burnt you, like a chemical reaction. we mixed it with room tempature water and we tested the tempature in the bucket that we just mixed and it was 92-95 degrees, and in the salt was 100+. is that normal? i never saw salt mix get this hot. i can understand a little heat, but this was like if you touched the salt with your hand you could have burnt yourself.
ALSO, he let it settle, then put it in the tank, and ever since then, which was about a week ago, none of his corals seem to want to open. his salinity is 23-24, and water par is great. but ever since using this salt it hated it. he normally uses tropic marin.
