Couldn't find the answer on the net. My gf bought a baby t maxima (1.5") at the swap against my advice. I have a bottle of Kent ZooMax in the fridge and have been feeding it every other day for an hour in a small 10 oz. bowl. I put like 5 or 6 drops and swirl the water with my finger. The clam immediately reacts by opening and closing but only for about 5 minutes. Is this cool or should I go out and get some dt phyto?

u got enough bio load to sustain it. just put some in right into the tank, once or twice a week should be good. theyre generally photosynthetic.

clams need phytoplankton supplementation, they're herbivores. The mantle isn't large enough to support them through photosynthesis until about 3", but it's still a good idea to feed them phyto sometimes just to make sure they are getting everything they need after they reach that size.

Also, Kent coral feeds are garbage. They are so many better feeds out there that aren't that full of preservatives. If you check, all of kent's coral foods have a shelf life of 2yrs or more, before they are opened. That should be a big red flag. Any liquid plankton food that sits on a shelf is doing more harm than good.
