How big is your tank?

What do you like most about the current setup?

What do you spend the most time doing? If it's adding supplements/testing/monitoring/water changes/etc.. you can get almost everything automated. I have a 40 breeder and (if I wanted to) could spend about an hour per week (at most) on the tank, as a full blown reef.

If it were me.. I'd keep the reef (if you like it more than the other options) and use it to blow off steam/relax.. You're probably going to need it working as much as it sounds like you are.

Oh, and by the way.. when the brewery starts taking off.. let me know. I'd love to buy a few beers ;)

My suggestion is to automate as much as possible. A lot of things can be automated, they just may be pricey equipment to do the task. Even with the automation, you would still need to do minor checkups to make sure things are running smoothly, but you can still cut down a lot of maintenance.

lol hey beerfish, still the 75? it shouldnt be hard to hold down a fowlr tank. feed every two days. have your salt water mixing the night before every two weeks. not sure if you have a controller to do the other misc work - turn your lights on/off - keep tempature - log ph. make sure everything else is working fine. you dont really need to change much out. i could possibly help you out every once in awhile with your water change every two weeks your only about 10-15 away if your in wood ridge.

so you just have to really about maybe one water change a month and i could help you out with the other. that pretty much sums it up and simple enough?

i work 7 days a week, college 7 days a week, family 7 days a week. there is no way you don't have enough time to keep it simple. it's a lot of work and i'm awake by 6:30 sleep by 12/1am reading my books or doing homework. Stressful yes but all worth it.

**btw, i'm at work right now. reading my psychology book. ha!

you can always break it down and worry about it later.

reap the benefits of your hard work with your venture before current pleasures. sounds like you'll be a millionaire soon enough so you can do all your huge fish tank dreams after you've stabilized your business ventures.

I have been with aquariums for many, many years. Every once in a while, I did take a break. So I would suggest, to sell your livestock and just store away the hardware. Then, when you come back, you have a good start.

You may not want to store it, thinking you won't come back, but you probably will, after a period of time. Other solution, is to sell everything, but then, you have the option of starting from scratch. And, that can be a lot of fun, next time around.

I'd go with storing the hardware...
