left side lit with DIY 180W 24"L x 8"W LED fixture hung parallel, 7" above the water. 40 blue and 20 white LEDs, no optics

right side is a 250w EVC 10k MH mounted perpandicular and 9" above the water, no reflector

Hey kendall did u try switching it around - putting the leds on the right and the metals on the left -now that u took these pics we could match them up with the switch around. post pics if u tryed it already

I would love to see a matching blue hue MH bulb if your going to make a comparison. Everything looks way better next to 10k bulbs.

From what I do see on LED tanks is that the colors just aren't right in the tank. Since LED's aren't a full color spectrum only certain things highlight and are illuminated the right way like greens. LED tanks, although nice, are very very monotone. It just looks a tad off unless your running a 70% blue led array on your tank. This is why I haven't put the cash down on a DIY fixture aside from actinic strips.

When cree comes out with their mutli chip LED's i'll maybe make the switch over.

It's been 6 days and getting some nice polyp extention, better than ever!





I think it is too blue for my taste so I am going to swap out a few.
